The Mississippi Department of Archives and History is home to several historical maps of Mississippi. They are filed according to year. Some date back as far as 1500, while others are more current. Some are from as late as 1984.

This collection includes Sanborn fire insurance maps, as well as maps from the Mississippi State Highway Department, U.S. Geological Survey, and other government agencies.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation, Map Sales Office has created several maps of county highways. They can be purchased for a small fee. They are helpful for those who are trying to find cemeteries within Mississippi.

Mississippi County Map of Road and Highway’s

The Mississippi D.O.T. Highway Department has prepared a series of 2016 county road maps. These maps contain more detailed information about man-made features than the geological survey maps. In addition to roads and boundaries, these maps include rural communities, churches, and cemeteries.

These maps are downloadable and are in PDF format. The main use of these are the locations of all known cemeteries in a county and of course the various roads and church locations. These Maps are Free to Download
